Women's mini marathon - male runners

Formally men are not supposed to take part but that is definitely more honoured in the breach than the observance! They do try to enforce it but generally fail good naturedly. Most men participating dress up in drag (and I would suggest set up a drag email address to register :) ), usually register as walkers or joggers (since you don't have to have a tracked time) and have female friends pick up their number at one of the preceding events. You don't have to show up in person to collect your number, many women delegate it to friends or family anyway so it raises no eyebrows. In terms of getting into the event, it is not difficult to get in to the race start area as long as you are going for the walker or jogger starts, there are usually up to 40k participants in the whole thing, they simply cannot check everyone! Be prepared though, the walker section in particular is basically the world's largest conversation and is a wonderful mêlée of adults, children, buggies and dogs with a fair few people dressed up for the occasion. Don't expect to run or even jog for the first couple of kilometres, very likely you will have to saunter at the start as it takes a fair amount to get the press of people moving.

The Womens' Mini Marathon is for female participants. They don't need male help for this, it is their day and they only should participate.
