Wireless question?

I have a standard NTL broadband connection (or UPC as they call themselves new) for a 7 year old desk computer.

I am about to buy a Laptop. What do I need to do to keep my desktop connected whilst having wireless for the laptop? Is there a device I can buy to attatch to my broadband 'box'?

Thanks in advance and apologies for my ignorance on IT.
 
You could contact NTL and purchase one of them. At least if there's a issue going forward they can't blame your own equipment.

There are loads of wireless routers out there, probobly PC world have the best selection. Look for N as these have the greatest range.
You also need to check the router is for cable connections..
