Wireless drive Gate Lock

Hi

Does anybody know if it is possible to get a “wireless drive gate lock” that works like the lock on your car. Opens with a press of a button??

I don't mean the gate opens its self electrically as well as that costs a fortune and you would have to get wires out to the gate. I imagine it would work off a battery.

If there were gate that came with this built in even better.

I saw something like it on an American web site but it was part of a big security system.
If I could get a solitary lock I could put on to a Drive way gate of a small house that would be great

I browsed the web but no luck, If anybody knows anything let me Know.

If you mean "keyless" entry worked from a key-fob, then you have a problem as they need power for the key-fob (battery) and power for the lock.

On your car this is not a problem as it has its own battery for the locks, but I don't know of keyless gate-locks that operate on battery power.

In any case, you would need a key to over-ride the system if the battery(s) failed, as with a car.

This guy did it for a friend of mine. It uses mobile phone to open the gate I think.
 
Cheap and cheerful remote padlock! Saw it the other day on ebay....obviously got too much time on my hands!

Whats the point in a remote padlock? You still have to remove it from the lock its attached to, to open the gate or door.

Thanks all for those suggestions.
I don't mean a remote padlock. I mean something like an lock on a door like a prison I guess:) where I would have a wireless button and the gate would lock and unlock on my pressing a button. I did not think it would take too much power just to lock and unlock but I could be wrong . I had a small lock in mind.
