wireless connection

I know it is possible to log on to another wireless connection from my laptop, but say I am about 1 minute walk from my brothers wireless connection and I have his security password and wireless provider details can I log on to his connection. What is the maximim distance you could connect to another wireless connection

"View Available Network Connections" - if it is there and the signal is strong enough you should be able to connect!
