can someone please tell me how to stop windows live messenger from coming up each time the computer is powered up.

I hate having to close these boxes every time I switch on the computer

When signed in to Messenger, on the main Messenger screen, go to Tools-> Options -> General -> then un-tick ‘Automatically run at startup’. Apply/Save your changes!
 
try any of the following if the above does not work

Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs -> Add/Remove Windows Components
Scroll down until you see Windows Messenger
If it is checked, uncheck it.

Reboot the machine.

Should the above not work go to
Start -> Run.
Enter msconfig
Go to the start up tab
Uncheck msmsgs
Reboot the computer

You will see some activity
Reboot the machine.
