Will KBC Bank accounts transfer to BOI?

I am a KBC bank customer resident in the United Kingdom and I was wondering if it's likely that KBC current accounts will transfer to BOI if the proposed sale goes ahead? If not how easy is it to switch accounts in Ireland?

According to the KBC press release their agreement with BOI ... "could potentially lead to a transaction whereby Bank of Ireland commits to acquire substantially all of KBC Bank Ireland’s performing loan assets and liabilities."

Your current account is a liability for the bank.

It has being reported, in The Sunday Times and The Currency, that PTSB might not acquire the Ulster Bank current accounts due to technical and operational challenges with migrating 500k 'live' current accounts.

I wonder if the same issues/logic applies to the KBC transaction, albeit there is a lesser number to transfer and different technology involved.

Bank of Ireland have suggested to me that they won't be acquiring KBC current accounts.
