My wife is currently not working and is looking to return to work soon once the kids start school.
At the moment I am working and have her PAYE tax credit and I also am on the top tax bracket so when my wife does go back to work it will only be part time so will possible be only earning about €1000 max a month or about €12,000 a year.
My questions is if I keep my wives PAYE tax credit will she be liable for any tax or USC etc. on her earnings?
I want to make sure it is worth our while having my wife return to work as we would need to pay for some childcare as well and this would potentially cost about €100 a week so to return to work for €250 a week and then have to pay tax etc. out of that and then take out the cost of Childcare it would really not be worthwhile it seems.
Any advise much appreciated...
