Why can I only post once every 30 minutes or so?

Why can I only post once every 30 minutes or so? I figured it may be that I need to confirm email but I never received an email in spam or other and cant see how to resend email.

I get a message like below if I try to post more frequent. Finding this forum annoying to use but this is most annoying thing.
Searched for 30 minutes for the "like" post feature and finally gave up.


The following error occurred:
You must wait at least 217 seconds before performing this action.
 
You're a new user and some options are disabled until you have 10 posts to your name so that's probably the explanation.
 
Correct.

But 217 seconds is only 4 minutes.

It is to stop spammers. We used to find that overnight foreign spammers would flood the site, so it's just one of the anti-spam measures.

What's your rush? It's not that hard to reach 10 posts - you are 3 away and you can post to your heart's content after number 10.

The measures seem to work on AAM - very little spam gets through. A small price to pay to have to wait for full access after 10 posts.
