Why aren't irish depositers memebrs of Nationwide UK Building Society

Will I be a member of Nationwide Building Society?
Savings accounts offered by Nationwide UK (Ireland) do not confer membership rights to Nationwide Building Society.

A Building Society can have different types of accounts e.g. share accounts and deposit accounts. Share accounts confer membership. Deposit accounts don't. They chose just to offer deposit accounts in Ireland.
