Who's for President 2025? Any takers?

Reminds me of Jim Morissons American Prayer album.

If crazy Jim couldn't pull off a poetry album I doubt the windbag in residence will.

Love to see him and the lovely sabina in matching leather trousers and suede chelsea boots.

“Those behind the project said listeners can expect to "find themselves fully transposed into the incredibly interesting life and times of the poet before he became Ireland’s President, from childhood to adulthood".”

The same listeners deserve everything they experience.

Connolly's trip to Syria gets worse and worse...

They were shown around by a stooge of the regime who called for journalists critical of the regime to be abused and tortured.

Then fellow traveller Claire Daly called for a visa for this vile individual.

Can't see it outselling the last album that was recorded in the Phoenix Park....
I loved it when JPII visited the US and a company made pope on a rope soap. Anyway, I digress...

Does she share the same views as Wallace and Daly on Putin and Russia's war in Ukraine?

She endorsed Daly even in 2024 as an MEP so I expect so.
At least she's publicly pro-Russian and anti-American, as are Daly and Wallace. Micky D shares their views but is rather more circumspect in vocalising them in clear terms.

She might be a bit more subtle with the both sides false equivalences than Daly and Wallace.

Listened to a discussion earlier on the Pat Kenny show on Newstalk (Friday Forum) re the presidency. One of the contributors said she doesn't think Mary Lou will run. (Bertie was mentioned - he appears to be keeping his powder dry for the moment!)

*The Irish Times poll yesterday shows Government parties holding firm and most of the left parties down, with SF slipping 4 points. While the presidential election doesn't always follow party political lines it doesn't augur well for either Catherine Connolly or Mary Lou.

Setting aside the issues around her personal finance... anyone thinking of voting for Bertie should be made to watch him give a long speech or reading of a budget. And the President gives a lot of speeches.
It's not the relaxed, affable Bertie you see when he is off the cuff.

She'll run if the Party leadership want to replace her without sacking her. The optics will be that she steps down in order to run for President.
It's worth remembering that the salary is €332,000 (Micky D takes the full amount) so the pension for retired Presidents is €166,000. Micky D is also entitled to an Oireachtas pension of around €90,000 (which he doesn't claim at the moment) and an UNIG pension of around €30,000 so he'll receive around €300,000 from the tax payer when he retires. (He's also got a property portfolio but that's his own business).
Mary Lou is 56. If she does one term she'll be in her early 60's with Oireachtas and Presidential pensions worth north of €200,000 a year. That's a major cost to the State.
Mairead McGuinness is already 66 so she probably won't last as long as Mary Lou... though she's the look of someone who could live to be very old...

Berties a yesterday's man, has been for a long time just no ones given him the one liner memo.
You can " bank" on him being an also ran in this race.

So Purple's ideal candidate is someone not young, who could get through 2 terms but not long after that.
The worst thing would be a run of single term 50-something Presidents racking up pensions - or god forbid, someone younger than that.
Got it.

If MDH is found dead in suspicious circumstances, you better have a good alibi :)
