I live abroad and am thinking of buying a house, with a view to returning to Ireland later this year and using the house as my primary residence.
I rang the Citizans Advice Bureau, requesting the definition of "Owner Occcupier", since I may own the house for a few months before occupying it. The CAB said that discretion could be used regarding whether I am an owner-occupier in this case.
My question is : at whose discretion is this - the mortgage provider, the government, the tax office etc?
(Note : I am a first time buyer, and would not plan to rent out the house for the few months while I am still abroad).
