White Poppies turned out to be red Poppies.

We purchased Poppies from a garden centre and paid a premium for a white variety. One year on and these have grown a standard red. Still beautiful but not what we paid for. Would you bother complaining?

:D I can't believe this thread! What has the world come to?!? Why not sue the garden centre? Alterantively, paint the poppies white? :D

Really constructive Welfarite.

WaterWater, only you can decide if it's worth complaining. Most likely it was an error and they'll swap them over; if not just don't go there any more.

You say "paid a premium" - how much of a difference was there in price between the two varieties?

Think you should complain, yes. You probably carefully colour co-ordinated the entire bed of plants so to have what was supposed to be a white poppy come up as red may have ruined the whole scheme.

If they are decent they should apologise and come up with some kind of small compensation- like a voucher or something.

I once bought a packet of (expensive) Kew Garden seeds and Lo and Behold, one month later as I went to sow them, opened the packet and no seeds
I had bought them in a well known stately home here in Ireland, but as it was some distance away I contacted Kew seeds direct and they very promptly sent me a couple of new packets of the seeds, just in time for planting that year. So just go back to where you bought them - they may offer you another plant of your choice. I don't suppose they'll want the red ones back!

Then you can colour coordinate it with the red or green Dettol spray that Vanilla keeps in her kitchen. :)

I prefer the yellow lemon myself.
