Savings:
20K Euros in 4yr capital guaranteed account, 2%pa
20K in bank accounts, mostly regular saver
No loans, new car paid for
Mortgage paid on house value 350 K
Currently saving 1k per month
our self-employed earnings fluctuate, currently on track to increase to 35k pa next year
We have income protection and life cover.
Pensions: current value only 40k between us, stopped our pension when one of them did very badly one year, unsure whether to restart a pension again
Looking for advice on the next steps, saving for retirement, college etc.
My view is to have something like:
20k in instant access bank accounts
10-20k in silver
We will have 150k coming to us in a couple of years - I plan to invest in a rental property.
I plan to put other savings into shares, I have a brother who is willing to share his knowledge with me, he has consistently made money.
I am unsure where else to diversify, I am not sure if pensions are a good idea at our age, and given that we are currently on the lower tax bracket.
We live quite frugally (and are quite happy to!)
