Where to invest confirmation money?

Hi
Since my son was born I have lodged his birthday money, christening etc in the post office. I have also lodged some as prize bonds (maybe won €25 once).
He recently had his confirmation and I was just going to invest that in prize bonds as well, but between being unable to log in to my online prize bonds account, waiting for some pin or other, then going to the PO, the post clerk telling me they can't lodge it because they need an sscn number that I can't find anywhere, I've given up and would like suggestions of where to lodge it, with the chance of some growth would be great. It's obviously not a huge amount, would welcome ideas please. Thanks
