Hi there. My wife purchased shares a long time ago and has left them as they are since. She owns a number of shares in CRH and receives a dividend cheque annually. She is no longer registered with a broker and is wondering what is the best/ most economical way of getting back on a platform to possibly sell/buy more. Any advice much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Mise

Assuming she has share certs or else you would not be asking the question.

1) CRH has moved its primary listing to the New York Stock Exchange.
2) Assuming you did nothing, your shares are now registered with Computershare USA
3) They would have written to your wife at the last known address
4) You will pay U.S. tax on them if you did not fill in the form to say you were non resident.
5) A cheque in US $ will be sent to your wife at the address on the shares.

It will be difficult to sell them, but check out this post and let us know how you get on.

They are easy to buy through any stockbroker.
