When will year 1991 move forward for gift tax?

Anyone know the regulations as to how long a gift reduces the threshold that you can receive? Currently any gifts received after 5 december 1991 impact on the threshold. Any chance that by the time we get to say 2015, the relevant year in the past may be 1999 or something?

I would suspect not anytime soon. The date was moved from 1986 ( I think) to 1991 a long time ago. I do not think this is a priority item. Remember it's sole purpose would be to reduce CAT take and that's not likely something on the agenda right now.
