when do trainee solicitors jobs start?

I did an interview for a trainee solicitors job and they said they would let me know in late December. I really need to know when, if I did get the job, they would require me to start. I was under the impression it would have to be after the PPC1, is that true? Someone recently told me they could want me to start at any time and im confused.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi! It depends on the firm. I started as a trainee solicitor in September this year and I am not starting in Blackhall until September 2008. The thing with a traineeship is if you can prove to the Law Society that you have worked with your training solicitor for 6 months before you start PPC1 you can usually cut the last 4 months off your traineeship after PPC2.
