When can we expect Blu Ray dvd recorders

Ok the war is won and its Blu Ray for the future

Currently have a Pioneer Dvd Recorder but it only has capability for playing dvd-r and not +rw

Also does not have hdmi or a hard drive

Saw a dvd recorder that can play all formats and dvd+rw in Richer Sounds but dont want to fork out on this if in a couple of months the price will drop. Did a google for Blue Ray recorders and found some information but nothing concrete

So any views on this?

Better to hold on to what I have or wait but it could be a long wait ?

Why would you want one when there's little to no HD broadcasts to record ?

Get a PS3 to have a Blu Ray player and record whatever you want onto a PC hard-drive.

Aware of PS3 but have no PC hard drive on current dvd recorder

Basically will any current non blu ray recorders become extinct soon? Most movie companys will be issuing dvd films on blu ray discs in the future. Ok I can get the PS3 to play these but wondering if dvd-r, dvd+r and dvd-rw will soon be replaced by blu discs etc

I'd say there might be affordable ones in about 3 years. But even if there are FTA HD broadcasts, they may have a 'record-inhibit' flag embeded.

Think I will hold of on updating my player. Maybe a good reason to treat myself to PS3 although have to check which PS3 type plays ps2 games

Now just have to get permission from Missus for Finance

You won't get one here at the moment. 80gig launched late last year in the NTSC regions does have emulation support for about two thirds of PS2 games though. No sign of a launch for that here yet though.

Seemingly the Sony PS 60gb does support them but 2 hopes of getting them as they have stopped making them

Looking for a 2nd hand one but seem to be like gold dust
