2 months ago, we put a bid on a house , the owner and auctioneer said they happy but its up to AIB bank. was told the other house the owner got sale agreed after 6 weeks. we now waiting 9 weeks . the owner has asked the aib bank a time scale and no answer yet. its the asking price we offered.
how long is max we could wait as everything is ready only to get sale agreed from aib bank

cheers

I am sorry to said there is no rule of thumb here, keep the pressure on the seller, the Banks take there own sweet time, glacier speed, same as the Receivers.

Are you sure it's the bank holding up the sale and not the seller by trying to get a better deal off AIB ? If you have their solicitors details ask your solicitor to ring them and see what's happening. Also speak to the estate agent and put pressure there.

Our solicitor Talked to theirs and said it's aib.seems a new person in the bsnk took over the owners mortgage sale

Ring the estate agent and ask him to see what the holdup is - if he gives a different answer than the seller it is the seller who is stalling most likely to try and squeeze a better deal from the bank. In general the solicitor is representing the seller so he takes his orders from him. Of course I assume that the bank is forcing the sale to get repaid a loan off the seller in the first place.
