What to do with small UK Pension?

Hi,
My partner and I lived in the UK from 1986 to 1990. For some of this time, she contributed to a pension scheme which has a current value of approximately £12,500 - the most recent estimate was that this would give a pension of just over £300 per annum.

She is now 55 and is wondering what to do with the pension? I understand that under UK pension rules she could cash it in but there may be tax implications.

Funnily enough, even though she eventually worked for the Irish arm of her UK employer (with the same pension administrators) she was told that she couldn't transfer the value to her Irish pension fund! She no longer works for them so is no longer contributing to that scheme.

Thanks in advance, Skell.
