What to do- Fathers taxi plate

hi just looking for advice please

my father (a taxi man) passed away last year. his taxi licence expires in june 2012. I am currently in the process of transferring the taxi license into my mothers name

i do not know a lot about the industry. is my mother better off to rent the taxi plate or just to sell the plate outright ?

any advice much appreciated

Hi Mick,

If you run the search option in this forum there are some previous threads on taxi plates which may be of some use.

There are also some in the Work and Careers Forum which may give you general info about the business. If you run the search option in that forum also you find some other useful threads.

Was your late father a member of one of the taxi driver unions? They may be able to give you some advice.

You might want to check out the proposed changes (there's a link to a discussion forum at the top of the psv.ie site) as I thought I read somewhere of a proposal to stop plate rentals.
