What should I look for in a laptop?

Hi

I'm considering buying a laptop but am not sure what type to get.

I would be using it mainly for email and the internet and a small amount of word & excel and playing videos. Also I would like something fairly lightweight.

What features should I be looking for? I know 3 or 4GB memory is supposed to be the best but I'm not sure about the other features.
 
If you only use it for what you say then 2GB memory would be enough - perhaps just ensure it is upgradeable to 4GB so in the future you can add more memory if needed.

For what you need it for you do not need to spend a lot of money on a laptop.
 
Depends on which operating system it uses, if it's using Vista get the 4 gigs.
 
have a look at the toshiba laptops on bms.ie - they have some xp options under their business section.
 
It sounds like a basic machine will do the job.
If you get XP, 512MB or 1GB will be ok. For vista, 2-4GB is needed.
Maybe a netbook would do the job, like an eee pc ?

Video files are heavy on your memory get as much memory as possible or get an external hard drive.
