Hello,
Just wondering who people rate as car insurers ?

I am currently with Quinn Direct but would like to move as while they were great and cheap when I was on a cheap car / not using much, I am now moving to a car thats worth a little more and use it quite a lot now...

One of the better ones seems to be hibernian but I cant do their ignition course as my car is 1.8 (the cutoff is 1.6)

Still though hibernian options seem to be quite good in terms of cover/options etc for ways to protect the no-claims bonus

Again I'm not looking for the cheapest (any more) but looking for best value over-all

It is definetely worth looking at policies offering full bonus protection, new replacemnet car when car is 12 months old or less, windscreen, legal expenses etc. You may pay a little extra but this can make a substantial difference if you have an accident. Recommend you shop around and also speak to a broker who specialises in private cars, as they often have very competitive arrangements with Insurance companies based on bulk purchasing and represent your interests in a claim rather than you dealing directly with an Insurance company.

Absolutely - talk to a broker and explain that you're not necessarily looking for the cheapest - that you want quality cover.

I went with http://www.bestquote.ie last time - the girl was good in that she gave me what the cheapest options were but then recommended I go with Royal Sun Alliance (which was slightly more expensive) because of the level of cover.

i have found AXA quite competitive and has offered us good service/support when we needed (like 3-day car rental when our car got stolen for example)..

Just looked at that site, as my insurance is up for renewal soon, but noticed this rather bizarre condition ...

So, for some reason, someone who, say, 4 years ago moved to Ireland from mainland Europe, and may in fact be an Irish or a UK citizen, somehow represents a greater risk? I'm confused.
