What are we watching on TV?

Tour de France on TG4 and also on their player Grand Tours of Scottish Islands which is an easy watching 30 minute travelogue programme from BBC Scotland.
More episodes will air on the Tour rest days. TG4 player is very good, casts well from Android.

Watching the Noraid documentary from last night on RTE1 while there's some interesting content it's a hard watch with intrusive music, too many quick jumps to different talking heads, can't go more than 5 seconds without feeling it has to switch to a different image or random camera angle.

Also no sense of what year we are in for the content being shown or discussed.

Rewatching "Early Doors", haven't seen it for 20 years and having watched it again, it reconfirmed to me that this was one, if not the best TV shows ever.

Beautifully written and acted, its stood the ultimate litmus test; time.

Well worth a watch.

My Monday evening viewings are now restored with the Big Three quiz shows back on BBC Two; Mastermind, the quirky Victoria Coren-Mitchell's Only Connect, and of course University Challenge, all shown back-to-back from 19:30 onwards.

The new series of University Challenge saw two Irishmen on opposing teams with an Irishman captaining and leading from the front on the winning team from UCL, my BIL's alma mater. He missed the programme despite a heads up from me. Maybe being a London-born Corkman explains his lapse or maybe he knew the outcome in advance. :) Still a great programme.

@mathepac, Good call on "Only Connect" it's the one show I really missed when we swapped over to streaming our TV needs
But last year I signed up to YouTube premium and discovered it on there so am happy again
I always feel kind of chuffed if I get a connection or if I solve the wall, even if I have to use the pause button ;)

For those that have Apple TV, Omnivore is worth a watch
And if you heard of the YouTube show "Hot Ones" you'll love the last 15 minutes of the "Chili" episode
where the staff and customers in the NOMA restaurant all eat the superhot Copenhagen Bhut Pepper

Untamed on Netflix was a solid enough murder mystery starring Eric Bana and Sam Neill as park service police.
6 episodes so could blitz through in a weekend, probably could have been done in 4 had 1-2 unnecessary sub plots been omitted.
Kinda plot that could have been wrapped up in the 90s/noughties in a decent 2 hour movie.

The park \ forest scenery is probably the star of the show. Regular TV watchers may find the plot unsurprising, it is done well.
7/10

Happy Gilmore 2

Yeah it's simplistic and juvenile, but it's also very funny and an enjoyable watch.

And all the golfers appearing in it are themselves, so McIlroy, scheffler, John Daly, etc (about 20)

The Jury - ITV Series on Netflix. Excellent six part series. Contains direct and indirect racism, several impressive sub plots, fantastic courtroom debates. Ideal for a wet weekend or just even if you are fed up with current programmes. Pencil it in for viewing when it suits you. Don’t miss and it will make you think.
