What are we watching on TV?

Watching The Americans on Disney. I think it's also on Channel 4.
Russians spies in Reagan era America. I'm into the second series and so far so good.

The Americans, opening episode is brilliant, and makes great use of Tusk by Fleetwood Mac. Excellent cast lead by Matthew Rhys (who has come a long way from Wales) and Keri Russell (who has come a long way from Felicity).
It does go into a bit of a lull after a few seasons but ends strongly.

Rematch on Disney is worth a watch,
It's about Chess Grandmaster Gary Kasparov's matches with the IBM computer Deep Blue, in particular the rematch in 1997
I'm not sure how true all of it is like having Rod Laver as his manager but it's an interesting point in time and a good watch

1923, part of the "Yellowstone" saga along with 1883, starts on RTE1 Tuesday 1st July.
It stars Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren and continues the story of the Dutton clan.

All matches from the FIFA World Club Cup are being streamed free on https://www.dazn.com/en-IE/welcome
With just Chelsea and Man City of the English clubs involved, maybe not a huge interest here.
If you have never used DAZN, it is very easy to set up, just take the free streams and refuse the offers of pay coverage.
If you do this they don't look for payment details!
A number of matches are also available on Channel 5.

This ain’t rugby and may be a difficult watch.

The BBC decided NOT to broadcast this programme for unexplained reasons, at least none that I have heard.

22:00 Channel 4 tonight 2nd July 2025
Gaza: Doctors Under Attack

A forensic investigation into Israeli military attacks on hospitals in Gaza that examines allegations of the targeting and abuse of doctors and healthcare workers in the territory

I don't mean to sound picky but how on earth can they do a forensic examination when they don't have access to the hospitals. They'd have to take Hamas backed (or Hamas member) doctors and nurses at their word.
We don't know if Hamas were in fact operating from Hospitals, not that doing so would justify Israel bombing the hospitals, but journalistic rigor just isn't possible in the present circumstances.

As above from @Leper and I for my part should have made clear that my post's mainly a quotation from the advertising blurb in the "RTE Guide" TV schedule.

Very very good series. The mother character is without doubt the most evil character portrayed on TV...forget any of those lunatics in Breaking Bad, she's a million times worse!

I don't mean to sound picky

There's a rule I heard once that goes like this. It's unbelievably accurate and I'm happy to share.
When someone says, I don't mean to be X or I'm not trying to be X - they invariably follow up by being............X

As in, I'm not being tight, but you owe me that euro, etc., etc.

Think about it and observe and you will see how true it is.

Much, much better to say
I know this may sound X, or I know it may come across as X, etc.........

I'm not being a PITA when I say all this!:):p

Cannot warm to this at all. No idea why it's rated as high as something like Dept. Q and I think that Helen and Harrison were miscast.

Okay not on TV, but this popped up in my YouTube feed this morning and I can't believe that it's 50 years old this year
I still remember clearly seeing it in the cinema back then and am really looking forward to seeing it again on the big screen in August

Coincidently if you still have or are subscribing to Disney+ there is a documentary about the film on the 11th of July at 8pm
