Hi all,

On the N7 just past Kill "they" have a moveable electronic notice board that reads. "Tired of the commute? log onto [broken link removed] an initiative by Kildare County".

I believe the logic behind it is to try and get more people to find jobs in Kildare. However, when you check the website it asks you upload your CV and doesnt give too much information. My question is who/what companies are behind this, who is getting access to your information etc...

Does anyone know any further info? shed any light on this?

Many thanks
Mers

I have done. Eventhough it states what its logic/intention, I was hoping someone would have more information. :(

As much as I would love to work closer to home, I would be very wary of uploading my personal/CV info to a website.

[broken link removed]:
Kildare County Council has this week launched an initiative to give the county’s commuters an opportunity to register their skills. The register will facilitate companies which want to locate their businesses in Kildare and will give commuters a better chance of spending less time on the road.

...

By registering on the website, commuters will be clearly stating that Kildare has a large and experienced labour force and potential labour force, of which businesses relocating to the county can take full advantage. Commuters who wish to register their interest on the website will be asked to provide employment and skills details. All information obtained is strictly confidential and will be used only for statistical analysis.

...

The project is supported by IDA and NUI Maynooth.

Hi, live in Kill, so see this every morning. The logic is to get people to find work local and avoid the commute. I have been recently given notice of redundancy (Clondalkin) so said would check into it. Did not upload my CV, but instead phoned around the employment agencies in Naas/Newbridge, to get an idea of salaries. The salaries were terrible and not many people could possibly afford to take the drop in salary to avoid the commute.

I would not upload my CV onto the website, because having researched the market for my skills (office) the money just is not there in Kildare. Citywest would be my preference.

Call me a cynic but I looked into this before as I thought it was something I might be interested in.

Now looking at [broken link removed] and then looking at the rate of development down in Osberstown I thought it was just a clever front for the developer to tout all these highly skilled readily available pool of employees only waitin for a job near their house.

Those lands were sold for [broken link removed] so it isn't surprising that all the stops are out to get the money rolling in.
