Hello, A friend of mine is a graphic designer and is looking for a web development course (part time evenings/weekends) either in monaghan/dundalk/armagh. anyone know anywhere holding one?

FÁS? There are also lots of free resources that you can use to teach yourself if you have the time, discipline and some clear learning goals/objectives/targets.

As far as i know the FAS courses can only be accessed by someone who has been unemployed for a certain length of time. she is in full time employment, hoping to improve her IT skills in relation to web development

Are you sure that that is true about FÁS courses? I was pretty sure that anybody could pay to do some of the courses - including the online ones. Did you check the site?

no but will look into it now. that was the information i got when i checked a few months ago for a few courses. they were only for those who were unemployed for a certain number of months ( i think it was 18months) i remember at the time thinking it was terrible that someone would have to wait if they were unemployed for 18 months to do a course that would really benefit them in getting employment... i couldnt understand the logic.

Some FAS courses are available to working people as my sister is doing a computer course with them at night and she's working. Best bet is to try and call into your local FAS office.

A good course that sidesteps all time considerations is:

It's all online as it should be considering the nature of the medium, if your friend is a graphic designer and backs up that skill with this development certificate, their money expectations for any new job should rise a signifcant amount. It is expensive as a course though. A Fas course in web design is only messing. But I suppose it depends on how qualified your friend is.
