Great news; according to the 2025 CEOWORLD Health Care Index we have the 6th best healthcare system in the world.

The top 20 countries with the best healthcare are:

  2. South Korea (77.7)
  3. Australia (74.11)
  4. Canada (71.32)
  5. Sweden (70.73)
  6. Ireland (67.99)
  7. Netherlands (65.38)
  8. Germany (64.66)
  9. Norway (64.63)
  10. Israel (61.73)
  11. Belgium (60.16)
  12. Switzerland (59.6)
  13. Japan (59.52)
  14. Singapore (57.96)
  15. United States (56.71)

  17. United Arab Emirates (52.3)
  18. Czech Republic (52.25)
  19. Finland (52.1)
  20. Portugal (51.99)
We are the 9th highest per capita spender Purchasing Power Parity Adjusted. The USA is number one, spending twice as much as us per capita.

Well done to the last few Governments and the management of the HSE. Keep up the good work.

Further down the same webpage, we come 23rd according to the Legatum Institute.

The Legatum Prosperity Index 2023

The Legatum Institute, a London-based think tank, has also evaluated the world’s best healthcare destinations.

Its most recent report, The Legatum Prosperity Index 2023, includes a “Health Pillar” that ranks 167 countries based on the overall health of their societies and the accessibility of tools to maintain health, including healthcare services.

Of course, in most countries, you’ll need a travel insurance plan for short visits of up to one year or an international medical insurance plan for long-term medical coverage of a year or more to access these healthcare services.

According to the index, Singapore ranks first for healthcare, followed by Japan in second place and South Korea in third. In contrast, the United States ranks much lower, coming in at 69th place in this assessment.

The full rankings are listed below.

Is this a parody account of @Purple?

No disrespect but over the lifetime of the last few governments you haven't been shy in bashing the HSE and last few governments for waste and poor management.

He is getting old and embracing life's later stages a little earlier than I expected,;);)
now moving from a little lighthearted topic,
I have always put the Health service down to be one of the best in the World and you can give credit to the front line staff for making it what it is today,

And also the nuns who ran hospitals back in the day and instilled a great work and care ethic
You can break in down frontline into 2 groups in the past that have left their mark,
Doctors and all kind of hard working specialists doing there best the can with what the had,
Nuns and female Matrons who led by example setting high standards for themselves and expecting the same from all under their care both workers and patients,

No organisation ever improved by talking about the things that they are good at.

I hate the term front line staff. It’s meaningless and self aggrandising. Unless you are getting shot at you are not on the front line.

You can actually give credit to the people in the department of health and the HSE who restructured services over the last 20 years, closing regional hospitals and creating centres of excellence. Our doctors and nurses are no better or worse than those in any other developed country.

The do not suffer from low self-esteem which you can see from the ratings you linked to,

I would say the took more of an interest in making sure our health service outcomes served the patent than staff do in other Countries
again going back to the standard set by frontline staff who went before them,

I don't know what that means.

I'm not sure what that means either.
I don't think our doctors and nurses are any better or worse than their counterparts in other countries. I don't think they work less hard or more hard. I think that most people try to do the best job they can within the constraints of their working environment. Nurses and doctors are no better or worse than anyone else. I'm not a fan of self aggrandization so, speaking of low self esteem, all the cringe-worthy self congratulation and the bizarre need for the approval of strangers is bemusing.
