Due to fly out from Waterford Airport 8.40 next Saturday morning. Have two choirces - a) drive down Saturday morning early from Dublin, AA Routeplanners says 2 1/2 hours so very early start for us and two young kids or b) travel down evening before in heavy bank holiday traffic and spend money on B and B overnight. Torn as to which option to take. Wonder if its possible to do the trip in less than 2 1/2 at that hour of morning without driving over the limits and arrive safely? Haven't driven there before so unsure of the roads - hardly expecting a motorway all the way!!

Pay the extra 60 euro or so for a B and B. It's not worth the hassle getting up that early with two young kids.

Hi,

Not sure where you are travelling from... I assume its Dublin.. It will more than likely take 2 .5 hours to get there. Finding the airport can be a bit tricky so allow extra time. Its about 6 miles outside the city on a "bad" country road. On the bright side though , the airport is very small so no queues, security delays etc.. and flights are almost always on time. Car parking is cheap and right at the terminal door. Dont expect great catering facilities.

Enjoy your trip.

I'm doing ( almost ) the reverse trip in a few weeks time with young kids for an 8.0 am flight from Dublin - wouldn't even consider the early morning option, it's too much hassle. Give yourself at least 2.5 hours if you do decide to do the early morning drive though.

thanks for the advise, folks, still pondering the options.
