Water Mains From stock cock

We are getting grounds work done and getting the mains water from the outside of the house renewed from the old led. He seems to be fitting qualplex plastic. (light brown or cream colour.) I would have taught they would have used heavy gauge plastic. (black)

Anyone clear this one up on what it the norm
 
It should be heavy gauge hydro pipe. It should be atleast 18" deep to prevent frezzing.
 
20mm MDPE-blue in colour is the replacement for heavy gauge depending where you live as the corpo/county councils have different regulations
 
He told me that it was only to save him a fitting inside the house at the toilet. I asked him to put in the heavy gauge into the house and use the extra fitting. For the sake of 1-2 euro.
