want door knocker

I want to get a door knocker. the only design i saw is georgian and too wide. What would be suitable for semi d house. Would like something modern

And does anyone know which design is best the one where a fixing plate is screwed into door or one where the bolt goes through the door and one has to cut to length with kacksaw

[broken link removed] used to have a good selection, it's a long time since I was in the shop and not sure how competitive their prices are or how modern their selection might be but worth a browse.

This may not be helpful, but we brought a nice modern door knocker back from the States, got a man to install it (it involved a long drill going right through the door, no handyman here!), and since then, we've noticed that nobody uses it - everybody just raps hard on the door with their knuckles. It may be because we put it up at a height where kiddies can't just keep banging the thing - still, it's only at normal adult chin height. Nobody uses it.
