VRT on imported car

Looking for some help here. In late stages of negotiations on an 2005 car being purchsed from a main dealer in the UK. The car IS over 6 months old but only has 4.5k on the clock - does anyone know if the VRT requirements are a) 6+ months old AND 6k on the clock or b) 6+months old OR 6k on the clock?

Also is there any other issues I need to check when collecting the car? I did enquire about a HPI check and they said - "sure we can do that when you are over here which will save you money". Just wondering if that is normal protocol?

Any help appreciated
Roy

I think you are confusing VAT and VRT. VAT is payable if the car is less has less than 6,000 km on the clock, VRT is payable unless you have owned the car for less than 6 months while residing in the UK.
