VRT exemption on imported car

Hi, is anyone familiar with the VRT exemption on importing a car if it was owned previously in the UK? Thanks

Presumably the exemption you mention is because the owner is transferring residence and bringing their car?

That’s right, it would be transfer of residence. Under ownership of property, do you reckon this would apply if the car is under finance?

I'd expect that you would have to own the car in order to register it here, regardless of the VRT exemption. Firstly you would need to consult your finance agreement/provider to check whether you car export the car.
