No, Vodafone will repurchase 1bln woth of shares in the open market. It will only affect you should you sell your shares as normal through a broker and by chance they buy them.
They operate a small shareholder dealing service (if you hold them in certificated form) if you want to get rid of them in a cheaper manner.
