I have a 2010 VW Polo Diesel 1.6
Over last few weeks I've noticed that when you start the car up and its idling or when you start driving , you can feel a visible shake in the car
When you driving for a bit (after a few mins) and get into higher gears it seems to disappear
Its not dirty diesel as this has been noticeable for last few weeks and have filled up few times during course of this time period

The car was recently NCT'd and it had its fuel filter changed and also had a cleaner run through the fuel tank to clear filter particle in the exhaust

Is this something to be worried about - could it be timing belt related

Anyone come across this before

I would suspect an injector or glow-plug problem. You'll probably need to get it on a diagnostic computer to check.

Check the coils, a handheld diagnostic unit will do.
Oops its a diesel, ignore :)

I have the same problem with a Polo. My garage tell me that I am not driving enough and that there is a build up of something in the engine. My mileage is very low about 1200 in 5 years.
He has put some type of liquid in the petrol and it seems to be better now. Browtal
