I am setting up a virtual machine on my mac so I can run windows programs. I need to install Windows XP. Where can I get it and will it cost much? Is there anywhere I can get it for free?

Well if the prev computer had a OEM version of windows then the operating system is tied the the motherboard.
Well that's the way the Licence works anyway....
I assume you are using Boot Camp on Mac OSX 10.5.x?...on my mac so I can run windows programs. I need to install Windows XP. ...
No you don't. With Crossover, as its a commercial implementation of Wine for OSX or Linux, the Windoze OS is not required, all you need is the legal application installation medium. They give a list of applications they support directly. Have a read of the specs (or use it or its pre-decessor, Wine, as I have in the past). You still need to buy windows to run on those systems....
