Viewing distance from tv

How far back do you need to sit from a 40" lcd (specifically sony 40w5500) for good results?
 
any chance you'd point me in the right direction to those threads. only found one ok-ish answer through my search

You can sit as close/far away as you want. If you are happy with the picture then that should be all that matters.

Don't tell me you bought a 50" plasma for a 8 x 8 room? If you are thinking of, then don't.
