VHI Tax Relief

Currently I receive a lump sum subsidy from my employer towards VHI. This sum is treated no different to my normal salary and all taxes, usc etc are paid at top rate as normal. I then pay my VHI by monthly deduction which is 1/12th of the VHI premium less TRS. Am I entitled to any relief on the payments given that these are deducted after tax?

The paragraph on medical insurance premiums and the 2nd paragraph be off interest to yourself and will answer your question

The 2nd paragraph is of no relevance to the OP, as it relates to cases where the employer pays the VHI premium in full for the employee. The OP has stated that they get a lump sum (correctly) taxed through payroll and then pay their own premium net of TRS.
