My daughter is insured on VHI Company Plan Extra level 2, she needs to have extensive dental work done under anaesthetic, her dentist works out of the Beacon Hospital for this kind of work.
VHI not covering dentists fees - no argument there it isn’t covered on the policy
They have agreed to pay €1183 of €1500 beacon hospital charge.
€1000 day care accommodation
€183 of €500 anaesthetist fee.
I don’t understand the shortfall in the anaesthetist fee, if she was going in for any other surgery they would cover the full amount, as they did with my other children, but apparently this was a pre certification claim and it is at their liberty not to pay the full amount.
Is this something I can negotiate or argue with them over, or is their decision final? I just feel it’s slightly unfair to favour one procedure over another.
