Not too sure about this as a solution:
Drawing stright lines on a schematic map is well and good, but translating that into a rail line (eg airport to howth junction) is another matter entirely. Not impossible, just not as straightforward as made to seem.
Also, reluctant to advocate running a dedicated airport service along the existing rail infrastructure as shown. Delays on the dart/intercity/suburban rail services would then reduce the effectiveness of the airport line.
Do not see anything inherently wrong in the airport line being standalone, not just for the reasons above, but based on regular use of the Heathrow express. Successful beacuse it is unaffected by other services, and only links to one station (albeit Paddington, with underground, bus, and rail links thereafter).
Fail to see how they justified not linking the Luas lines though. Criminal shortsightedness there, methinks.
