We're visiting Paris for a few days next week and thinking of using the local version of Dublin Bikes, aka Velib.

Anyone here have recent experience of them ? And Dos, Don'ts ?

Thanks

I've used them and thought they were fantastic. Seemed to have much broader and denser coverage than Dublin, occasionally hard to find a free spot to return.

I recall signing up on the spot at a kiosk but I guess there's an app for that.

I found them a much better alternative to the Metro, especially in the summer.

In the end we decided to stick with the Metro. The weather was great, but the rest of the family aren't confident cycling in city traffic.

Pay As You Go electric scooters are everywhere over there. And you can just abandon them where you choose and the app will keep them locked 'til the next customer wants to use it.

You were dead right. Driving in Paris is a nightmare never mind trying it on a bike. A friend's husband who cycles daily nearly got killed last month as a car just tipped him. And he's very experienced.
