VAT Scope

If a trader registers for VAT - does it apply to his activity or to the individual?

e.g. bloke does painting - registers for VAT

He then starts another unrelated activity (gardening / roofing/ whatever) - is he automatically obliged to include the second activity when filing VAT returns?

Yes - the same way it applies to income tax & PRSI.
