Cocaine worth over €1.2m seized at Cork Airport

Where do the Guards/Revenue get the valuations for drug seizures? The one listed above (having done the sums) values the cocaine at €1,000/gramme. At that price it would certainly revert to its old title of "the rich-man's drug", which would be a great help in reducing both demand and consumption here. Looking at other jurisdictions their valuations seem rather more conservative. Are the authorities simply bigging themselves up with mad valuations that the general public cannot dispute?

Any users or resellers experts in here?

Usually what is seized coming in is high purity, perhaps 90%, that gets mixed down, sometimes down to single digit purity! Police forces the world over use the street value of the mixed product as that sounds far more impressive and gets them more headlines.

It appears as if they always " big " up the value of the drugs seized to reflect the street value of the product . This never seems to be the case in less sensational situations such as cattle theft .
You will sometimes read that " A bullock worth eight hundred Euro stolen from a farmer in Ballinamuck was recovered nearby " Eight hundred being the value to the farmer . You will not read that " A bullock worth three thousand Euro stolen from a farmer in Ballinamuck was recovered nearby " . Three thousand being the butchers shop price .:p
