Hello guys, I am a PAYE worker with no other sources of income.
If I were to buy and hold US shares(NASDAQ,NYSEARCA) through Degiro would I have to file a tax return next year for 2017?
If so would I be filing a form 11 or a form 12?
The dividends from the US shares would be less than €3000 and I am a PAYE worker so i'm guessing it would be form 12.
However revenue sent me the following email after I asked them if you had to declare acquisitions of US shares.
"the acquisition of any stocks and ETFs domiciled in the EEA/US and other OECD countries with which Ireland has a DTA, should be returned in Form 11 under the heading Chargeable Assets Acquired."
Form 12 does not have anywhere to declare asset acquisitions as far as I can tell, so maybe form 11 is the way to go?
