US Dollar account - which bank?

I am resident in Dublin and I am looking to open a US Dollar account from which and to which I can make electronic transfers. It will be used to facilitate occasional investment in US equities and sale thereof (Irish brokers charge stupid fees for changing currencies). My own bank charges a heavy annual fee for operating a USD account. Any suggestions as to which bank(s) I should approach?

Investec, PTSB, AIB, BoI and Ulster Bank offer USD accounts.

Maybe do a ring around to find out the best rates and fees for operating the account.

I am pretty sure Investec have no fees on their USD account and give small credit interest.

Us dollar exchange rate

Most banks should allow you open a us dollar bank account, it won't guarantee good exchange rates. Always call a few banks and also compare with currency.ie in Dublin to see what the best rate is

I know that PTSB used to have excellent foreign currency accounts at branch level.

How bureaucratic they are now I dont know, but I dont recall much fees for the account.

I think as always - small bit of time investigating.
