My contract with Bord Gais is due for renewal on 8th August for electricity and got a phone call from them the other day offering approximately 17% discount for coming year. We don't have gas in our home. Currently on 32% so that makes it a massive drop. Had a quick look on Bonkers, Switcher and Choosy and it would appear that their unit rate is also slightly higher than Electric Ireland who are also allowing the cash discount of €210. The annual standing charge is also very close for both so no big difference there either.
Over the past few years Bord Gais were encouraging newcomers but for whatever reason they appear to be shooting themselves in the foot. When running the comparison websites no options come up at all for them which definitely wasn't the case over the past number of years.
Had a look at online offers also for them and not much difference there either.
Has anyone done better on their discounts recently with Bord Gais and find this rather strange really.
