I returned to work after 4 months off due to redundancy. During those months my wife did pay slightly less tax as I was receiving employment benefit for that period. Our tax credits allocation have again been realigned. We both pay at the higher rate

As I believe I should have unused tax credit from those 4 months is it correct in assuming that I should be paying less tax for a period?

I enquired with revenue and they said my employer should be able to sort out the less tax
When I put this to my employer but they said I had to deal with revenue regarding this unused tax credits!!

Hope to can clarify this for me

Unemployment Benefit is taxable so that probably used up most of your tax credits for the period.

Ring the Revenue again and ask them to go through your tax credits with you. Make sure you have details of your UB payments to hand. They should be able to determine then what the best split of credits is and whether it is being done right now.
