Unused Ryanair flights refund ?

Flights were booked with Ryanair for departure on Friday but now cannot undertake that journey so new flights booked for the following day to a different destination, also with Ryanair. No grounds for a travel insurance claim.

Has anyone managed to get a goodwill refund from Ryanair?

Only in the case of a family bereavement.

If you're lucky, the weather will cancel the first flight, and you'll get an automatic refund!

They were very good to me once when, totally through my own fault, I missed a flight home from Gatwick and had to buy another to get home via Standsted later that evening. I didn't get any money back but got a nice discount on the second flight.
