Under tile insulation

We're insulating an existing house before we move in. The only weak spot left are the kitchen tiles on the concrete floor and I had thought to put tilebacker boards under them, the type that are used under electrical underfloor heating system. I've been quoted 53 Euro/sqm inc VAT however for a 10mm sheet of the best known brand on the Irish market. That's more than we're paying for the tiles! Can I get away with putting 12mm of ply under them instead?

Conshine, I've never seen any and it's too late now. Mrs Josip has already ordered her tiles and they're coming from Spain by truck/trawler even as I type.

Conshine, yes you can get insulated tiles with the insulation already in them but they are not suitable for flooring only for walls as they are weakend with the insulation in them, josip i do not see why this wouldnt work if the tiles are grouthed and filled correctly to prefent damp and moisture in the ply
