I am looking to invest in some blue chip uk blue chip companies as some of their dividend yields are quite high(4.1%-5.1%). I have some vodofone shares and when I get my biannual dividend, 10% is gone in a tax credit. My accountant has paid calculating my tax liability up till now but cannot figure out if I have been paying 42% of the remaining 90% in income tax or did I just top up with 22% of the gross dividend. All help appreciated as greatly affects the true worth of investing to me.
